Our Top Picks

Best Electric Pressure Washer Overall

Greenworks Commerical 2500 PSI Brushless Pressure Washer PW-2500C

Greenworks 2500 PSI Industrial Pressure Washer Review - Best electric pressure washer overall

Greenworks earned our top overall recommendation as the best electric pressure washer as it moved into the professional category. It’s capable of legitimately replacing gas models with 2500 PSI with 1.2 GPM or 2.1 GPM at 100 PSI. While that doesn’t compete with the 4000+ PSI behemoths, those of you who make a living on the lighter side of professional cleaning can kick the gas can.

Giving it the DNA to enter the commercial/industrial class, this model pairs a 14-amp brushless motor with a 1000-hour industrial-grade triplex pump to give it a long service life. As you consider the breadth of electric pressure washers, it’s tough to find one better built than this.

Best Electric Pressure Washer Power

Ryobi 3000 PSI Brushless Pressure Washer RY143011VNM

Best Electric Pressure Washer Power - Ryobi 3000 PSI

Ryobi is one of just two brands to hit the 3000 PSI mark (Greenworks is the other) with a brushless electric pressure washer that’s actually certified as a working pressure and not playing games with the PSI Max* marketing that is often misleading. Paired with 1.1 GPM, it’s the strongest performance we’ve seen from an electric model so far. When you compare it to what you can get on the gas side, it’s moving into the middle-performance range and breaking new ground for the electric class.

The downside is that you pay more for the highest performance. However, with no gas to pay for or small engine mechanics to keep it running, you get the performance of gas with the convenience of electric power.

Best Cordless Electric Pressure Washer

Ryobi 40V HP Brushless Whisper Series 2000 PSI Pressure Washer

Best Cordless Electric Pressure Washer - Ryobi 40V HP Brushless 2000 PSI

If you’ve been waiting for a lithium-ion battery-powered pressure washer, the wait is over. The second-generation Ryobi 40V HP Brushless model is the best cordless electric pressure washer in what currently remains a very narrow field of competition.

In Boost mode, it can deliver 2000 PSI and 1.2 GPM of cleaning power and has a physical form nearly identical to the 1500 PISI version that earned our recommendation last year. With the upgrade in power, you need to use two batteries to power the unit, though.

You don’t need a pressurized water source to run this unit and that’s a big deal. Drop the siphon hose in the pool or lake and clean to your heart’s content without dragging around a garden hose. As part of Ryobi’s Whisper Series, it runs at just 57 decibels. Now if you’re wide awake at 4:00 AM, go ahead and pressure washer—you won’t wake your neighbors.

*Note the $449.00 price tag is for the pressure washer only without batteries and charger.

Best Portable Electric Pressure Washer

DeWalt 2100 PSI Jobsite Pressure Washer

DeWalt 2100 Max PSI Electric Jobsite Pressure Washer DWPW2100 - Best Portable Electric Pressure Washer

DeWalt got our attention with a portable electric pressure washer that balances performance and portability better than others thanks to a brilliant design. On the performance side, it packs higher performance than most small-form pressure washers with 2100 PSI and 1.2 GPM.

The genius is the in the physical form—everything packs into a suitcase-size housing and roll cage. Open up the door on the side to find the hose and nozzle storage. The hose wraps neatly into the roll cage. You also get a telescoping handle and wheels to make it easily transportable even though it’s larger than the models we’ve recommended in the past.

Best Electric Pressure Washer Value

On our hunt for the best electric pressure washer value, we found two models that both offer a lot for the price.

Karcher K 2 1700 PSI Pressure Washer Plus Surface Cleaner and Car Car Kit

Karcher’s combo kit includes a pressure washer with 1700 PSI and 1.45 GPM. While those numbers aren’t as impressive as some of the other models we’ve recommended, there are accessories that help you make the most of it. A surface cleaner makes your concrete cleaning chores far more efficient and a car care kit helps you clean your vehicle while avoiding damage to the paint. There are even two wands in the kit—a Vario Power and a Dirt Blaster.

Greenworks 2300 PSI Pressure Washer with Foam Cannon

If you’re looking for the highest performance you can get on a budget, then the Greenworks 2300 PSI model is the best electric pressure washer value for you. Getting 2300 PSI and 1.2 GPM certified performance for under $200 is rare. Greenworks sweetens the deal by adding a foam cannon to help you get a thick foam on your vehicle when you’re cleaning it.

More Recommendations from Brands We Trust

Best Craftsman Electric Pressure Washer – CMEPW2800

Craftsman has several solid pressure washer choices at pretty attractive prices. Our top choice for Craftsman also happens to have the highest pressure in their electric lineup. Certified by CETA, it tops out at 2800 PSI and 1.1 GPM using a 15° nozzle. That’s a 400 PSI upgrade in performance from our top Craftsman recommendation last year. The unit’s four included nozzles plus a turbo nozzle store on the top and the frame’s 10-inch wheels make rolling across the lawn an easier task.

Best HART Electric Pressure Washer – HW142511VNM

HART has several pressure washers to choose from and our top choice is the 2000 PSI/1.1 GPM model. It steps up with 25% higher PSI than the best HART had last year thanks to the use of a brushless motor, putting it in a cleaning performance class with some of the biggest names in the business. The overall design is tried and true, and the cleaning power really can exceed what you get from entry-level gas models with far less maintenance and frustration.

If you haven’t been paying attention to HART’s OPE lineup, it’s not only pressure washers where the brand is making big gains. It’s across the board and HART is quickly making Walmart a destination for quality battery-powered OPE and power tools.

Best Simpson Electric Pressure Washer – Clean Machine CM60976

Simpson makes a ton of great pressure washers for homeowners all the way up to commercial professionals. Most are gas models, but the Clean Machine CM60976 is an excellent choice for an electric pressure washer. Producing 2300 PSI and 1.2 GPM on the top end, the big deal here is value. This is another model that uses brushless motor technology, but it costs less than its closest brushless competitors.

Best Stihl Electric Pressure Washer – RE 110 Plus

Stihl doesn’t have as deep of a pressure washer line as some brands, but each one is intentionally designed. Between their two electric offerings (the RE 90 is no longer available), the Stihl RE 110 Plus offers homeowners better performance. With 2000 PSI and 1.2 GPM coming from its brushless motor, there are plenty of more powerful options available. However, none of them have the service network Stihl does.

What About Sun Joe?

There’s some confusion surrounding some manufacturers’ PSI and GPM ratings. Brands such as Sun Joe and Westinghouse decided to use “PSI max” as a way to communicate pressure and it’s not the same as how other manufacturers get their numbers. Check out this article for more details.

While these brands make popular pressure washers and can do a good job of cleaning, pay close attention to the numbers when you’re comparing models.

Best Sun Joe Electric Pressure Washer – SPX3000

Sun Joe has one of the largest lines of electric pressure washers available. There’s no question the SPX3000 is their most popular. Boasting 2030 max PSI and 1.76 GPM, be sure to take a look at the fine print before pulling the trigger. Under a typical working load, it actually produces 1450 PSI, and the GPM rating is taken with the nozzle open (AKA no nozzle installed). Even though its $169 price tag is compelling, make sure you’re comparing it against other pressure washers in the 1500 PSI range.

On the positive side, Sun Joe’s design is easy to use. It has two removable detergent tanks and comes with 5 nozzles. Despite straying from typical specification reporting, it is a very approachable pressure washer that has served many homeowners well.

Best Westinghouse Electric Pressure Washer – ePX 2050

The Westinghouse ePX 2050 PSI pressure washer is different from most thanks to the four casters on the base. Rather than going with two larger wheels, this one resists tipping over with four points of ground contact. However, that also makes it tough to roll across the grass. On the other hand, the whole package is less than 25 pounds. It’s not too heavy to pick up when you need to.

On the performance side, you’re looking at 2050 max PSI (the manual states 2030 max PSI) and 1.76 GPM. Sound familiar? That’s the same specs as the Sun Joe model. While Westinghouse doesn’t have the same disclosure Sun Joe uses, it’s reasonable to expect your working PSI to be closer to 1500 and that the GPM rating was taken with no nozzle installed.

Best Worx Electric Pressure Washer – WG607

Worx is another brand that displays PSI max, but to their credit, they make it very clear what the expected working pressure is. On the WG607, they put the 2000 PSI working pressure in the name and let you know it has 2200 max PSI in the technical specs. The same goes for the GPM rating. Its rated flow is 1.2 GPM with a max of 1.4. We appreciate the clarity!

We like the hose reel built into the frame a lot. Managing the hose when you’re storing or moving any pressure washer can be a pain and the assist is helpful. Among the four nozzles that come in the box, the ever-handy turbo nozzle helps these lower-PSI units work more efficiently.

Electric Vs Gas Pressure Washer

Electric pressure washers don’t have as much power as gas models. They do, however, hit levels that are excellent for use around your home.

What’s nice is how low-maintenance electric models are. There are no gas, oil levels, spark plugs, or carburetors to worry about. Plus the noise level is much lower and there are no emissions.

You are tied to an electrical source, though. Considering you are also tethering to a water source, it’s not as inconvenient as a corded vs cordless power tool.

Comparing PSI and GPM

It can be tough to figure out which option among several pressure washers gives you the best cleaning power. There’s a relatively simple formula to compare them—just multiply the PSI by the GPM. Here are a few examples:

PSIGPMCleaning Power
Model A20001.22400
Model B22001.43080
Model C23001.32990

Take a look at this article to learn more about the relationship between PSI and GPM in pressure washers.

Pressure Washer Vs Power Cleaner

There’s a relatively new class of cleaning tools called power cleaners that are on the market, such as the Worx Hydroshot. These are incredibly convenient for cleaning a variety of things, especially considering you can connect a hose directly to them or use a siphon hose and a bucket of water.

The big difference between a pressure washer and a power cleaner is that pressure washers have much higher pressure. A power cleaner is fully contained in a tool not much larger than a pressure washer wand. Due to this, the components have to be smaller. While pressure washers usually start around 1500 PSI and go way up from there, most power cleaners are 300 – 600 PSI. On the other hand, the flow rate of a power cleaner can be similar to an electric pressure washer.
